Get on the retro tram car of Hankai tramway and get off at Shimmei-cho station, and you can find a beautiful Machiya (traditional Japanese house). This is a Saryo (Japanese tea house) where Tsuboichi-seicha hompo established in 1850 as a wholesaler in Sen no RIkyu’s hometown Sakai directly manages. When you see it from the place facing the tramway where feudal lords used to walk, it looks like a small one-storied house, but there is a high ceiling in the shop, and you can also enjoy the green garden where goes deeper. This is so “a house in the mountains”. An atmosphere of the building that restored a tumbledown Machiya by traditional techniques in two years is filled with power that can remind you of graceful mind, away from hustle-bustle of daily life. The menu items including meals, drinks, sweets that made by the shop staff’s hand with doing their very best have a concept unique to Japanese tea shop “To use plenty of Japanese tea, To match with Japanese tea” and are mild taste as if it melts your heart. In particular, shaved ice by shaving with Sakai knife is named “Zero gravity” and is a very popular item many people stand in line!!

The Company president and several shop staff who have a license of Japanese tea appraiser are holding a Japanese tea workshop regularly while utilizing each unique talent from different angles. A shop staff said, “Our president proactively brews tea before our meeting. If we try to brew, he says with a smile, “No, no! Tea is something the top should brew!” Strangely, the delicious tea will perk me up, and I will get motivated to work together as team when the meeting starts after drinking it together.”

The shop staff’s attentive heart is based on not a manual but an awareness of each them. So one of them immediately talked to people standing in front of the shop, “Please come in if you are waiting for someone.” The days that they brew a cup of tea with love may have a positive effect on their natural behavior and kindness.
